As the roles and responsibilities of accounting professionals evolve to meet the needs of their clients, one trend we've kept an eye on is the increase in technology and support queries.
Our anecdotal evidence suggests helping clients select and integrate the right applications can take up between 10 and 30 percent of some accountants' working weeks (with some reporting significantly higher percentages of time). Some firms have formalized this work into a significant revenue stream and an essential service, while others simply avoid the issue altogether.
With this in mind, we’ve launched a survey to develop a clear picture of how accountants and bookkeepers in the US are responding to technology-based questions from their clients.
The survey is short (less than 5 minutes). It asks questions about what kinds of challenges you're dealing with, how these support or detract from your core accounting business, and if tech issues play any part in your day. In addition, it touches on your thoughts about advising clients on technology and what could be getting in the way.
