Sage has hired Ray Barlow, who had been one of the first to join Intuit's Accountant and Advisory Group, to be its new vice president of accountant solutions.

Barlow will have responsibility for the accountant business in North America, as well as the Sage Accountants Network (SAN), working closely with Jennifer Warawa, who is now global vice president of product marketing for the accountant market at Sage.

Barlow was hired by Intuit as senior leader of national accounts when the QuickBooks maker started its Accountant and Advisory Group back in 2013. He came over from CCH where he served as vice president of sales and marketing. Intuit would claim several former CCH staffers in forming the accountant outreach and cloud advocacy group, with Barlow being the first.

Warawa had headed up the SAN for several years at Sage North America and aided a search for her replacement since advancing at the company. She offered the following statement about his appointment:

“Ray's strong background in building significant business development strategies and his proven track record will be invaluable to Sage,” said Warawa. “His understanding of what accountants need to better run their firms will further help position Sage as a leader in the market. I can't think of a better fit to take the Sage North American accountant business to the next level.”

Barlow has over 20 years of experience with the accountant market with roles at CCH as well as Thomson Reuters.

Look for a Q&A with Barlow in the near future on AccountingWEB and feel free to offer any questions you have for him as well.
