This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 14th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 18 issue and online at

Other accounting firm IT arms appearing on the list include PricewaterhouseCoopers, ranked 29th, Ernst & Young at 36, KPMG at 51, and Deloitte & Touche USA at 99.

Since 1994, Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. This is the fourth year in a row that Grant Thornton has been included in the ranking.

"We are delighted to be recognized for the fourth consecutive time as one of the best places to work in IT," says David Holyoak, Grant Thornton partner and chief information officer. "This recognition is a reflection on the quality of our people, technology and our commitment to deliver the Grant Thornton Experience to our people."

"Being named to Computerworld's list is a true reflection of how our people feel about their Grant Thornton experience," said Anne Lang, Grant Thornton chief human resources officer. "It is exciting to see that our commitment to fostering a positive environment continues to enhance the lives of our people and our reputation in the marketplace."

"This year's Best Places to Work rankings represent companies across the industry that recognize how a strong commitment to and investment in employees is synonymous with creating a great IT work environment," said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Once again, we found that IT professionals are looking for rewarding and challenging projects, access to leading-edge technologies, career growth and development and a comfortable work/life balance. Our Best Places companies not only offer these benefits, but do so in a manner that goes well above industry norms."
