Although Eudora isn't the most popular email software program on today's market, it does have a nifty new feature included in the release of version 5.0 that may catch the attention of new users.
'MoodWatch' is a component that enables email messages to be read by Eudora software to determine whether the message is objective in content and/or mood. Sometimes, we're all in too much of a hurry to send email, and depending on what mood we're in, the tone of various messages could be considered offensive to the receiver.
The message is sent through MoodWatch, and the result is a rating of chili peppers with one being mild and four being red hot. The software also scans incoming messages for questionable behavior.
'Studies have shown that people tend to be more aggressive in email than in other forms of communication,' says Jeffrey K. Belk, senior vice president and general manager of QUALCOMM Eudora Products. 'MoodWatch simply helps them be more aware of how they may be coming across. We believe ... control should be in the user's hands and MoodWatch does not stop someone from sending an aggressive or offensive message.'
