A new Web-based software solution that provides up-to-the-minute sales and use tax rates for every taxing jurisdiction in the United States and Canada was released by Bloomberg BNA on Aug. 20.

The product, BNA Sales Tax Rates, features an all-new Web-based interface, more granular search options, and the ability to receive automatic delivery of access links to the latest sales tax rates.

“With nearly 10,000 US taxing jurisdictions, sales and use tax compliance is a time-intensive, labor-intensive, complicated, and costly compliance obligation,” Pat Bryant, senior product manager of Bloomberg BNA's software products, said in a written statement. “Laser-focused on providing broader coverage and a greater level of precision, BNA Sales Tax Rates helps address this administrative nightmare by reducing errors, alleviating audit risk, and eliminating under- or overpayment of sales tax.”

Some of the key benefits of BNA Sales Tax Rates include:

  • A variety of search options for jurisdictional boundary identification and tax rate determination, including city, county, ZIP code, ZIP+4 code, and street address. Address validation and formatting based on US Postal Service standards is automatically applied.
  • Both current and historical sales and use tax rates for every taxing jurisdiction in the United States, including Puerto Rico, and now includes Canada rates.
  • Easily customizable and can be used to automate delivery of access links to the latest sales tax rates, which can be aligned with customers' unique processes.

The optional BNA Sales Tax Exporter is also available to import rates into any financial, e-commerce, or point-of-sales application.
