Fourteen self-study seminars that were recorded during the 2013 IRS Nationwide Tax Forums are now available on the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums Online (NTFO) site.
The IRS reminded tax professionals on November 8 that they can earn CPE credit by viewing the online seminars, which provide information using interactive videos, Microsoft PowerPoint slides, and transcripts.
The 2013 NTFO seminars covered many subjects of interest to tax professionals, including the following:
- Tax law updates
- Treasury Circular Number 230 overview
- Child-related tax benefits
- Retirement plan loans and hardship distributions
- Updates to Form 706
Tax professionals can earn CPE credit by creating an account, answering review questions after viewing each chapter, and passing a short test at the end of the seminar. Enrolled agents and CPAs taking NTFO seminars can also earn CPE credit. Each CPE credit costs $49.
"NTFO seminars also can be audited for free", the IRS stated. "Participants who choose to audit seminars will not have access to the review questions or final examination and will not receive credit for the seminar."
NTFO is registered with the IRS Return Preparer Office and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a qualified sponsor of CPE. In addition to the 2013 seminars, NTFO offers a variety of other seminars from IRS Nationwide Tax Forums held from 2009 to 2012.
