IRS Hiring for Committee Handling Public Comment on Tax Administration

The IRS has four vacancies it seeks to fill on its Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities, which provides a way for the public to comment on tax administration.

The vacancies include two on the Employee Plans segment and experience in federal, state and local governments is preferred; one in Exempt Organizations with experience in tax-exempt bonds preferred; and one in Tax Exempt Bonds with experience in exempt organizations preferred.

Committee members are appointed to three-year terms by the Department of the Treasury. Terms begin in June 2018.

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 18. They can be emailed to tege.advisory.comm@irs.gov or faxed to (888) 269-7419.

Applicants should complete Form 12399-Cand can’t be registered lobbyists. A notice on the Federal Register from Aug. 17 includes more details about the application process.  

ACT is a public forum for the IRS and representatives who deal with employee plans, exempt organizations, tax-exempt bonds, and federal, state, local and tribal governments. The committee allows the IRS to get regular commentary on administrative policy and procedures of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division.
