Enrolled agents cut continuing education time with CPE Link Web casts

Enrolled agents (EA) must take 72 hours of continuing education every three years specifically designed to enhance their professional proficiency in federal tax matters. With travel time and time away from the office, the requirement can become difficult.

CPE Link offers live Web casts as an alternative to the in-person seminar to help EAs meet their CPE requirements conveniently and economically.

CPE Link Web casts fit into an EA’s busy schedule. Participants enjoy learning this way and appreciate the time savings. A recent first time attendee, said",This was my first Webinar and, wow, how great not to take an entire day out of the office!" CPE Link offers six to eight tax topics every month and continually brings in new topics and speakers that qualify for EAs.

A recent addition to CPE Link’s faculty is tax professional, Eva Rosenberg, EA, (also known as the Internet’s TaxMama from TaxMama.com). Eva has recently joined forces with CPE Link to deliver her tax training using both live Web cast delivery and online self-study. Starting September 13, Rosenberg will teach an IRS Practice Series to assist tax practitioners who want to develop the skills to prevent or resolve IRS collections actions. A free Overview of IRS Collections is available via on-demand webcast.

Also part of the TaxMama team are:

  • Tom Buck, CPA, published author, tax coach, and teacher, who prides himself on being able to take on virtually any type of IRS problem.
  • Sonya Wilt, EA and entrepreneur, who aggressively represents clients before state and federal taxing authorities through audits, appeals and collections.
  • Roger B. Adams, EA, who specializes in treaty interpretation, has clients all over the world and teaches International taxation topics.

An essential component to EA education is an annual tax update. Starting November 15, CPE Link will offer eight sessions of EA Vern Hoven’s 16-hour Federal Tax Update, delivered in four 4-hour webcasts. The series covers fast-breaking tax developments that affect individuals, estates, businesses, partnerships and corporations and gives updates on every new legislative change effective starting in 2010 and 2011. "When clients come in during the upcoming tax season, they will want to know how to minimize and maximize income sources to avoid the tax. It’s essential that CPAs and EAs be prepared to help with strategies", said Hoven.

“The Web cast format is great for digesting complex tax material,” said Sue Anderson, CPE Link program director. “You have the opportunity to ask questions during the live Web cast. Then you can review the information by watching the recorded Web cast.” Comprehensive and practical written materials also accompany the program for future reference.

Fulfilling the EA education requirement with webcasts can not only save EAs valuable time, but money as well. Webcasts are less costly than an in-person seminars plus CPE Link's Enrolled Agent Value Pass allows EAs to save by bulk purchasing CPE hours to use over the course of a year.
