Wendy Burch is the Executive Director for the National Alliance on Mental Illness- New York State (NAMI-NYS). Wendy came to NAMI as the loved one of a close family member who lives with a mental health condition, and her own personal experiences fuel her passion for advocating for improved services for those living with mental health issues and their families, as well as addressing the stigma associated with mental illness. As a representative of NAMI, Wendy also promotes NAMI education programs and resources geared towards people living with mental health issues and their families. She is a certified teacher for NAM’s Family to Family program, a free, evidenced-based class designed for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. As a veteran of the military, Wendy served on active duty in the United States Army for 9 years. She continues to be active in supporting resources for military veterans and service members and volunteers for various non profit organizations whose missions include providing support to military members and their families.
