Thanks for the article! I wrote a post a few months back about tax scams, and these things evolve so quickly that it's already becoming outdated. I'm afraid this tax season will usher in even more scams, and they will probably demand ransoms in untraceable cryptocurrency. Ugh!
Allowing claims for their entire losses should be huge. I imagine there will still be a lot of people whose losses are bigger than their AGI from those storms.
Thanks, very informative! Wondering if the proposed tax bill could shake this up? Seems like people will be registering more S Corp's and LLC's for tax benefits...
It will be interesting to see if a divided party can actually pass something big. It certainly has the stock market excited. Or, maybe Roy Moore will get blamed for tanking the whole thing.
Ugh, always a new scam. Reminds me of the "get paid to stuff envelopes," scam I fell for before the internet. My hopes of making hundreds of dollars a day was quickly dashed when i realized I had to sell the company's (useless) information about "working from home opportunities" first, and the "stuffing envelopes" part was mailing it to the buyers. The first and only person who paid the $10 for the info was someone who was handicapped, looking for a way to work from home. One stuffed envelope, one broken heart.
Boundaries are so important. Otherwise, it's always a slippery slope to working on the laptop!
Hi Diana, these salaries seem low. I just researched accountant salaries for a piece at: https://www.mightytaxes.com/accountant-cpa-salary-best-states-worst/ and the numbers I got from the Bureau of Labor Statistics are higher. Do these #'s assume "entry level? thanks - Missy
