Number of Management and Executive Positions Rising

More management and executive positions are expected across the country, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), who predict a rise of 13.6 percent within this decade. Based on this information, the creation of more than 5 million of these high-level, new jobs is expected by 2010. These projections for potential career advancement have many professionals wondering how they can land one of these positions.

In addition to a rise in high-level positions, more and broader avenues are available to pursue these jobs. For those hoping to advance their careers this comes as welcome news, according to Wendy Enclow and Louise Kursmark, co-authors of the new book Expert Resumes for Managers and Executives, Second edition.

"Today's jobs are everywhere -- from multinational manufacturing conglomerates to the small retail sales companies in your neighborhood; from high-tech electronics firms to 100-year-old farming operations in rural communities; from financial institutions to health-care facilities in every city and town. The jobs are everywhere," say Enclow and Kursmark.

One industry that offers all levels of employment seekers the most opportunities for jobs is the technology industry. This will be the number one growth industry over the next 10 years, according to Enclow and Kursmark, but it is certainly not the only industry with job promise. Health care, sales, real estate, not-for-profits, human resources and accounting are just some other fields and industries they include.

While the higher position opportunities are rising and can be found anywhere, the authors caution, "It might take a bit more time than in years past to find the 'right' positions, but the positions are there."

The key to these advancements, the authors add, is to "Arm yourself with a powerful resume and cover letter, identify your most appropriate marketing channels, and start your search today. You're destined to reach the next rung on your career ladder."
