Day 12: Build Those Calves

Strong calf muscles will increase your endurance and your ability to perform many forms of exercise, such as hiking and biking. They also provide you with better upper body support. And, they look good!

Step 1: Stand facing a wall with your feet about six inches from the wall.

Step 2: Place your hands flat against the wall for balance. You can hold on to a chair, your desk, or another piece of furniture – whatever makes you feel the most stable.

Step 3: Rise up on the balls of your feet, hold for the count of three, and then lower your heels. 

Step 4: Repeat as many times as you'd like. Be careful, though – you don't want to do too many at first or you could get a cramp.
