In yet another accountant-centric move, Sage has launched an online hub designed to house in one place all of the cloud applications an accounting firm uses.
Dubbed Sage Impact, the product was developed by Sage and practicing accountants with the idea of having all core products they regularly use, regardless of whether they are Sage-branded or not, to reside in one cloud-based location rather than in multiple products and services with multiple log-ins.
Built on an open platform, the product proposes to integrate with many of the everyday tools accountants currently use to run their businesses. Sage Impact is also customizable – from news alerts to updates from social networks – so each firm can design its own personalized platform, allowing accountants to work as they want to and from any device.
“We’ve had numerous conversations with accounting firms that work on all kinds of products, not just ours, and the one thing that continually comes up is the need to just work better,” said Jennifer Warawa, Sage’s global vice president of product marketing for accountants. “Sage Impact will allow all online apps accountant work with to be in one place. You can bring in non-Sage apps as well, but we will also bring in new apps to meet needs that are currently being met poorly.”
Warawa also noted that Sage Impact may not necessarily be embraced by every firm, but more forward-thinking practitioners who are already in the cloud and looking for a better way to work should find it attractive.
Sage said Sage Impact is and will remain free for accountants and bookkeepers in practice, and is currently available for use in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States. Availability in other additional geographies will soon be added.
