MONTVALE, NJ (September 21, 2000) - Robert E. Bell, Jr., CMA, CPA, the current CEO of Hickory Brands, Inc. (NC) is the new President-Elect, 2000-2001, for the Institute of Management Accountants. He was named at IMA's 81st Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA and assumed office on July 1. In 2001, Mr. Bell will succeed Frank C. Minter, CPA, Executive-in-Residence for the School of Business at Samford University in Birmingham, AL.
Mr. Bell currently chairs the Strategic Planning Committee responsible for developing and recommending long-range business and growth objectives that will service IMA members.
Since his first association with IMA in 1973 with the Catawba Valley Chapter, Mr. Bell has served the organization in many capacities. Highlights include: National Director; Chair of Academic Relations Committee; National Nominating Chairman; member of Marketing and Membership, as well as the Member Interest Groups Committees; and Area Vice President.
Prior to joining Hickory Brands, Mr. Bell worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Charlotte, NC, and also with the United States Army. A graduate of the Citadel, Mr. Bell has his MCAA from the University of South Carolina, and he and his wife, Andrea, live in Hickory. He is a current member of the AAA and the AICPA.
