Expense management software products Certify and Concur earned “Leader” status based on a combination of customer satisfaction scores and market presence size, according to the latest Grid report from business software user review platform G2 Crowd.
The Winter 2015 report for expense management tools, which was released on Wednesday, is based on more than 700 product reviews from business professionals. For the report, G2 Crowd’s Grid for expense management featured 11 products, each of which had 10 or more user reviews that were posted on the site.
“Expense management is one of the most popular categories on G2 Crowd, both in the number of reviews that have been written, as well as the number of buyers reading the reviews,” Tim Handorf, president of Highland Park, Illinois-based G2 Crowd, told AccountingWEB. “The reviews indicate that expense management software is used by companies of all sizes.”
While the report and review data are publicly available on G2 Crowd, users must authenticate via their LinkedIn account to post a review on the site. Reviews from vendor employees, competitors, business editors, and consultants also appear on the site, but are not factored into G2 Crowd’s algorithm.
Based on a combination of user satisfaction scores and market presence data (vendor size, market share, and social impact), each software product on the Grid is categorized as either a “Leader” (high customer satisfaction score and substantial market presence), “High Performer” (high customer satisfaction score but smaller market presence), “Contender,” or “Niche.”
With Grid scores of 74 and 68, respectively, Certify and Concur were both named expense management product “Leaders.” G2 Crowd currently houses more than 400 user reviews on Certify, and the automated travel and expense management tool received an overall customer satisfaction score of 98 percent, the highest of the top 11 products.
“This is an exciting moment of growth for Certify, and now to be the No. 1 expense report software, as well as one of only two market ‘Leaders’ in our category, is a huge validation of our efforts,” Certify CEO Bob Neveu told AccountingWEB. “To read the individual user reviews from real customers going out of their way to praise the product’s rich functionality and ease of use, as well as our customer happiness team, it inspires us to keep working to exceed their expectations.”
Concur users have posted more than 80 reviews on G2 Crowd, and while the expense management software product had a lower customer satisfaction score (65) than Certify, it had a market presence score of 74, the highest of all the products included in the report.
"Expense is part of our core offerings at Concur, and receiving 'Leader' recognition not only furthers our position as an innovator, but it validates our vision of providing the perfect trip and the perfect expense report", Concur Chief Product Officer Barry Padgett told AccountingWEB. "We strive to provide customers with a seamless, effortless experience and work with multiple partners across the entire travel and expense ecosystem so that expense reports practically write themselves."
Expense management software products that earned “High Performer” status included: Expensify, UNIT4 Travel & Expenses, ExpenseWatch, Replicon, Nexonia Expenses, and Journyx.
NetSuite Open Air earned “Contender” status in the Grid report, while ArchiOffice and BillQuick were considered “Niche” products.
Across all expense management platforms, reviewers reported the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 84 percent. On average, reviewers said they were 82 percent likely to recommend the product they use.
According to G2 Crowd, expense management products that have mobile capabilities seemed to resonate more with users. Each of the 11 vendors included on the Grid have both iOS and Android app versions of their product.
Because the G2 Crowd expense management Grid is in real time, products could change quadrants – or new products could be added – as more user reviews come in to the site.
Since it launched in February 2013, G2 Crowd has collected more than 25,000 reviews of business software products across several hundred categories. Based on this crowdsourced data, G2 Crowd has published reports that rank the top enterprise software platforms in such categories as customer relationship management, business intelligence, file storage and sharing, and electronic signatures.
