Thomson Reuters has released, under its PDI Global brand, the 2012-2013 edition of its annual Tax Planning Guide, which accounting firms can use to keep their clients up-to-date on recent federal tax legislation and inform them about tax planning strategies.

"Our Tax Planning Guide helps professional firms develop and deepen client relationships by sharing information about ways to minimize tax and achieve various financial goals," said Keith Haurie, vice president of emerging products for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. "Firms can personalize the guide with their logos and use it to build brand awareness and encourage their prospects and clients to contact them for tax-related services."
The Tax Planning Guide covers tax planning topics, including deductions, investing, business ownership, saving for education, and planning for retirement. The new edition includes charts with updated tax rates, exemption amounts, contribution limits, and related information.
The guide is available in online, e-mail, print, and PowerPoint formats to maximize flexibility, reach, impact, and cost-effectiveness:
  • The online version, WebTaxGuide, is automatically updated when tax laws change. It features a home page with links to content sections in the guide. Also available are banner ads that can be used to highlight the guide on a firm's website.
  • The e-mail version, Flex-E-TaxGuide, is a customizable HTML e-mail template that links to the online WebTaxGuide. It also includes an e-mail distribution, management, and tracking system to proactively manage communications.
  • The print version, 2012-2013 Tax Planning Guide, offers content for two audiences: (1) the "classic" edition is geared to the tax needs of small business owners, privately held companies, those who are self-employed, and individual taxpayers; and (2) the "executive edition" is aimed at high-net-worth taxpayers. Both editions can be personalized with information, such as a welcome message, a tax calendar, or firm partner photos and bios.
  • The PowerPoint version, Tax Seminar-in-a-Box, contains professionally developed slides - with content, speaker notes, and imaging - that can be edited and customized for presentations at tax planning seminars.
Tax and accounting professionals who order the Tax Planning Guide by August 31, 2012, will receive a Social Media Tax Practice Marketing Kit. It features weekly "Tax Notes" to post on a firm's website and social media web pages. The kit also includes banner ads highlighting the Tax Notes and a white paper on best practices for social media marketing.
