Best-of-the-Best NJ Accounting Students Gather at Scholars Institute

Brought to you by

Held on May 28 and 29 at the campus of Montclair State University, the annual New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) Scholars Institute gave 103 specially selected college students  -- who are also NJ residents –  a unique forum to help give them a competitive edge in the business world.  As part of its two-day residency program, Scholars Institute offered interactive programming that helped students identify their goals and provided them with the essential tools to reach them. In addition to supplementing classroom education, Scholars Institute gave students the opportunity to network and make valuable connections with CPAs, human resource personnel, NJSCPA staff and other students – professional resources for years to come.

Speakers moderated seminars and gave hands-on sessions on practical topics such as “Resume Development & How to Choose the Right Internship,” “Public Speaking Skills + Effective Networking = Serendipity,” “Social Media and the Future of Technology,” “Expectations Meet Reality,” “Mapping Out Your Career” and several others.

One of the attendees, Jennifer Han, a student at Rutgers University, had this to say about the event: “I would like to thank you for inviting me to the NJSCPA Scholars Institute. It was a great learning experience and I left the program with more knowledge and great insights about the CPA profession. The Scholars Institute will continue to motivate me in attaining my future professional goals and it was a great opportunity to meet new students and professionals.”

Since its inception in 2002, The Scholars Institute has an exclusive alumni class of more than 900 individuals who have gone on to become CPAs with the Big Four, regional accounting firms, government, academia and major corporations. To learn more, visit
