Avalara, a provider of fully automated, up-to-date sales and use tax compliance solutions, announced its newly revamped Accounting and Advisory Services Program (AASP), designed to provide CPAs, professional accountants, and advisory services professionals access to premium sales and use tax compliance content, educational resources, and tools to expand their service offerings.
Avalara's new program signals the launch of a broad outreach initiative to the accounting profession that will help to educate and directly assist accountants with their clients' sales and use tax automation needs.
"Today's announcement underscores Avalara's commitment to the channel in general, and to a very significant channel in particular – accounting professionals who want to be properly prepared for client inquiries regarding sales and use tax, or who are already dealing with clients that require immediate assistance with sales tax compliance and management issues," said Pascal Van Dooren, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing at Avalara. "As a pure, 100-percent channel-focused company, Avalara is truly pleased to continue creating new programs and offering relevant, valuable resources to serve all levels of the accounting profession and, by extension, to their valued clients."
The new AASP features three levels of participation:
Accountants Resource Center: Avalara now offers accounting professionals free, instant access to hands-on tools and educational resources to help them increase their sales tax knowledge and better assist their clients. The new Accountants Resource Center provides white papers authored by leading industry experts, webinars conducted by seasoned sales and use tax professionals, as well as access to next-generation sales tax calculation tools and forms libraries. Avalara will continue to add content and resources as the program evolves.
Referral Partner Program: Avalara's AASP referral program is designed for accountants who want to actively engage to recommend Avalara's sales and use tax services to meet clients' sales tax automation needs. Avalara works closely with referral partners to satisfy both the client's automation requirements and the firm's business objectives.
Pro Partner Program: Avalara's AASP Pro Partner level is a strategic and business level partnership, supporting firms that wish to expand their sales and use tax capabilities to better and more fully serve clients' needs by using Avalara's products for their clients.
"Avalara's new program demonstrates that they've spent a good deal of time figuring out what accounting professionals need, and how they want to engage, when it comes to sales and use tax compliance and automation issues," said James Bourke, CPA, CITP, partner at WithumSmith+Brown, PC, and member of the AICPA Board of Directors. "Their Accountants Resource Center will be especially useful for tax and accounting professionals and their clients, as it offers an impressive array of content and hands-on tools that I've not previously seen aggregated in a single location."
"Our industry data has demonstrated that being proactive, systematic, and judicious in improving sales and use tax management pays greater dividends than being reactive to audit situations – and this message is now resonating with accounting professionals helping their clients face sales tax challenges," said William Jan, senior research analyst at Aberdeen Group. "Solution providers offering a nice mix of aggregated sales tax resources and streamlined access to robust, cloud-based sales tax automation can help address cost and adoption concerns among their clients. Domain expertise remains critical in this compliance initiative, thus providing accounting professionals with the right resources to help their clients in overcoming indirect tax challenges can greatly minimize business disruptions."
