Did Demand for Your Work Pick Up Because of TCJA?

Didn't find your answer?

Have you been experiencing an uptick in demand for your work because of the new tax law? Have you been setting higher rates for your services?

The latest monthly employment report from LinkedIn shows that demand for accountants has increased, thanks to passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in late December.

LinkedIn reports that seasonally adjusted hiring for accountants in January was up 16.3 percent from December, compared to 10.9 percent nationally.

It reports that cities with the highest demand for accounting skills are Austin, Seattle, Norfolk, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco. The cities with the largest supply of accounting skills include Houston, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, New York City and Atlanta.

Still, LinkedIn says that the hiring of accountants across industries is sporadic — from being up 21.5 percent in the aerospace, automotive, and transportation industry to being down 26.4 percent in the technology hardware industry.
