The red-hot ASP or Application Service Provider market just heated up once again with a new contender. Designed to target small- and mid-size businesses, AristaSoft has announced it will begin offering rentable applications to J.D. Edwards' OneSource enterprise planning software.
In a related story, AristaSoft also announced several partnerships, including one with Deloitte & Touche, in which the Big 5 firm will offer consulting and systems support to the company with the new venture.
It has been known for some time that the ASP makes sense because clients can rent applications they want rather than buying and hosting entire packages. The CPA marketplace sees this as another door opening to the consulting and service business by recommending various packages to rent.
