Effective Sept. 1, 2008, Crowe Chizek and Company LLC is practicing under a new name, Crowe Horwath LLP, a new structure, and a new logo in all states in which it has offices, as well as many others.
The firm continues to operate as Crowe Chizek in certain states, pending final review of its name change application in those states.
The new name reflects Crowe's expanding capabilities to service clients who have international needs, by means of the firm's membership in Horwath International. Horwath is one of the 10 largest networks in the world, including 140 independent accounting and management consulting firms, with offices in more than 400 cities globally.
Crowe joined Horwath International in 1991 and today is a leading member of the international network. Crowe's clients benefit by tapping into the resources of 19,000 Horwath member firms' professionals around the globe who have comprehensive knowledge of their local accounting principles, tax laws and business processes.
"In today's world of rapid globalization and increasingly competitive markets, businesses around the world are expressing needs that Crowe and Horwath member firms are well positioned to serve," explained Chuck Allen, Crowe CEO. "The Crowe brand is strong in the United States and the inclusion of the Horwath name further enhances both brands in the global marketplace."
Crowe has served 350 international clients in more than 40 countries and those numbers are increasing. This name change is an important step to reaching Crowe's vision of becoming a national firm that is recognized globally.
Aligning brands with Horwath International benefits not only Crowe's clients, but its personnel as well. "The enhanced alignment with Horwath provides our people with more opportunities to work abroad and increase their thought leadership," Allen explained.
Frank Arford, Horwath International CEO, said, "Crowe is the largest member firm within the Horwath network and leads our network in the largest economy in the world. In addition to these important leadership roles, Crowe constantly delivers services in accordance with the highest standards of technical excellence and client service. Horwath is delighted to have Crowe align its name with the Horwath name, and we believe this alignment will enhance our network's ability to serve our member firms' clients around the world."
The new name reflects Crowe's rich heritage, from its beginnings as a two-person accounting firm in South Bend, IN, through its evolution into today's firm of 2,500 people servicing clients worldwide. The Crowe Horwath name draws on 66 years of name recognition for the Crowe name and reflects where the firm is today, while positioning it for the future.
"We believe these changes put us on a path to become recognized globally for providing audit, tax, risk and consulting services in our focused industry sectors. Committed to our values, our people will continue to deliver high quality, measurable results by providing clients with direct access to our knowledge, using a collaborative service model," said Allen.
