Following is the latest roundup of accounting community news for the week of April 25, 2011.

Springfield, NJ-based Citrin Cooperman has been ranked No. 7 among large companies by NJBiz magazine in its "Best Places to Work in New Jersey" competition. Citrin Cooperman, one of 41 firms honored in the large company category (250 + employees), and one of 70 firms honored overall, was the highest ranking accounting firm among large companies. Last year, the firm was ranked No. 12 in the small/medium company category, and has been honored by NJBiz for three consecutive years.

Among the many benefits at Citrin Cooperman are: a four-week paid sabbatical after six years employment, advanced leadership programs, cash bonuses for those that earn their CPA designation, a minimum of 100 hours of CPE training annually, and bonuses based on accomplishments. The firm also has a formal maternity-leave policy and curtailed working hours on days before major holidays.

Clifton Gunderson has announced that Doug Diehl has joined the Phoenix office as regional director of business development. In this role he will be responsible for business development and consulting services in the Phoenix and Tucson markets. Diehl received his bachelor’s degree from MidAmerica University, Olathe, Kansas.

Clifton Gunderson has announced that Andrew Niesen has joined the Philadelphia office as regional director of business development. Niesen received his bachelor’s degree from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. and his master’s from Baldwin Wallace College, Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of Risk Management Associates, Commercial Finance Association, Turnaround Management Association and International Council of Shopping Centers.

McGladrey & Pullen, LLP has announced that Joe Adams has been named managing partner and CEO of the firm effective May 1. Adams joined McGladrey & Pullen in 1979, and became partner in 1987. He has held increasingly responsible leadership positions, including his current role as Leader of the Great Lakes Region. Adams graduated from DePaul University with a B.S. in Accounting and M.B.A. in Operations Management. He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Entrepreneurial Institute.

The Texas Society of CPAs is leveraging the power of social networking to reach out to as many people as possible with its third annual Financial Literacy Social Media Outreach Day on Friday, April 29. TSCPA hopes to spread the word about’s free information and resources, and Texas CPAs’ role in financial literacy.  Last year, TSCPA reached nearly 20,000 people with its message. Whether it’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or e-mail, TSCPA is reaching out to more than 29,000 society members to help send the following message, or a similar one to friends, connections, and followers.
