Barfield Murphy Shank & Smith announce employee accolades

Daniel Brock, CPA, and senior manager at Birmingham, AL-based Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith accounting firm has earned his designation of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

As a CVA, Brock will perform business valuation services, which are commonly required in conjunction with the purchase or sale of a business, succession planning, estate and gift taxes, and initial public offerings. Brock has been with Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith since 1999 and he specializes in financial statement audit, review, and compilation services for clients in the construction, manufacturing, and real estate industries.

Lacey Bacchus, marketing coordinator at Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith, was named president of the Birmingham Chapter of Jacksonville State University Alumni Association. As Birmingham Chapter president, Bacchus also was appointed to serve on the Jacksonville State University National Alumni Association Board of Governors.  She received a Bachelor degree in Marketing in 2000 from Jacksonville State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from UAB in 2004.  Bacchus has been the marketing coordinator at Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith since 2007.

Betsy Nolen, professional concierge at Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith, was honored with the Ellis Porch Spirit Award from the Arthritis Foundation Alabama Chapter. Nolen received this award for her extraordinary volunteer commitment to the 2009 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.
