The CPA firm of Abeles and Hoffman, P.C. announced that Brad Indelicato, CPA, recently obtained the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation. The CVA designation is awarded by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).
"This accomplishment demonstrates Brad's commitment to excellence. He has assisted in many business valuation projects and is continuously seeking additional skill sets so he is able to deliver significant value to our clients", says Stu Hoffman, CPA/ABV, CBA, who heads valuation services of Abeles and Hoffman.
As a senior accountant, Indelicato specializes in providing tax, accounting, consulting, and business valuation services for the firm's clients. He specifically serves clients in the real estate, health care, manufacturing, wholesale, and professional services industries. Indelicato received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Missouri - St. Louis in 2008.
PFLAG National has named KPMG LLP the 2012 Straight for Equality in the Workplace honoree. The award will be presented at the Fourth Annual Straight for Equality Awards Gala on Monday, April 2, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square. Straight for Equality – a national outreach and education project created by PFLAG National – invites, educates, and engages straight allies to advocate for and support gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) people.
The Straight for Equality in the Workplace award acknowledges an organization with a demonstrated commitment to achieving equality for GLBT people in the workplace by educating and engaging straight allies in creating both policy and culture change.

Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), an accounting and business consulting firm in the Southeast, has added four members to its shared services team in Nashville. The shared services group provides support for the LBMC Family of Companies.
Bob Armentrout has been hired as a lead developer within the project management team of shared services. He has more than twenty years' experience integrating technology with the needs of accounting and financial departments. Armentrout holds a bachelor's of business administration in accounting and a bachelor's of public administration in public fiscal management from Franklin University. He is currently working toward a master's degree in information technology at Capella University. Prior to joining LBMC, Armentrout was a senior financial systems analyst with Nissan North America.
Mary Thompson has joined LBMC as a business analyst within the internal technology arm of LBMC's shared services. She has experience with systems analysis, design, testing and implementation, database reporting, and analysis in the retail, restaurant, and higher education industries. Thompson was an information technology manager with Cracker Barrel for fourteen years; prior to joining LBMC, she was an information technology specialist at her alma mater Middle Tennessee State University.
Annie Woods, PMP, is a project manager with the shared services group. A graduate of Vanderbilt University with bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics, Woods has assisted clients in both the private and government sectors with IT projects ranging from enterprise level custom software to internal data center moves. Prior to joining LBMC, Woods was a project manager with Active Network. She is a member of the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Amanda Rathe, CPA, has joined LBMC's internal accounting department as a senior staff accountant. She previously served as accounting manager for Tennessee Wire Technologies where she gained expertise in financial statement presentation and controls. She received her bachelor's degree in accounting from York College in addition to a master's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University.
LBA Certified Public Accountants announced the promotion of Taylor Hall Hixon to senior auditor. Hixon joined the firm in 2010 as a staff auditor and focuses on providing audit and review services to not-for-profit and faith-based organizations. She earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in accounting from the University of North Florida.
LBMC Technologies, LLC, a member of the LBMC Family of Companies, has announced three recent additions to its Nashville office.
Shaun Grogan has been hired as a network systems engineer. A graduate of Hartford University with a bachelor's degree in information technology, he has eighteen years of experience supporting private and public sector IT needs. Prior to joining LBMC, Grogan was with DRS Technical Services, Inc. as a defense consultant with the US Army, serving as a project lead and senior systems administrator in Afghanistan.
Cory Brevick joins the LBMC Technologies team as a software developer. Most recently, Brevick was an English teacher at WEB International in Changzhou, China. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, with a bachelor's degree in computer science. Brevick brings a natural talent for programming as well the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
Chris Coccia has been added as a business systems consultant and will be providing customized solutions to clients utilizing Microsoft Dynamics GP and Intacct ERP software. Previously, he was an AP specialist for Affinion. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Accountancy from Belmont University.
The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) will present Joseph M. Falbo, Jr., CPA, with its Special Recognition Award on May 10 at the Society's 115th Annual Election Meeting and Dinner at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Falbo is a tax partner at Tronconi Segarra & Associates LLP in Buffalo.
Falbo is only the sixth person to win this NYSSCPA award in the Society's history. The award recognizes members who have made extraordinary contributions to the NYSSCPA warranting special attention, according to Margaret A. Wood, NYSSCPA immediate past president and chair of this year's Awards Committee.
Falbo's tenure as secretary/treasurer and Finance Committee chair came during a time when the NYSSCPA was reorganizing its internal budget process. Working with other NYSSCPA leaders, Falbo established a new internal financial reporting system that provided board members and staff leaders the information they need to make the best possible fiscal and operational choices for the Society.
"He did outstanding work last year and the year before as treasurer, and did outstanding work on the Board of Directors", Wood said. "And I think he has more outstanding work to be done."
Falbo graduated from Niagara University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and is a past chair of the university's Niagara County Alumni Fund-raising Committee.
"It was absolutely my privilege", Falbo said of his service with the NYSSCPA. "Some may think that volunteer service can be a chore, but at the end of the day, it was a privilege, and I feel fortunate that so many other CPAs entrusted that responsibility to me. Now, to have them say when it's done â you left it a little better than when you found it â that is the ultimate compliment."
Rothstein Kass a professional services provider to the financial services industry, has announced the addition of the HC Associates LLC (HC) team to its Business Advisory Services Group. HC Founder and CEO Edward R. Tedeschi and President and COO Carl J. Versella have joined Rothstein Kass as principals and will continue to provide customized consulting services to clients, including hedge funds, fund of funds, institutional investors, family offices, asset managers, banks, and broker dealers. The addition of the HC team continues the nationwide expansion of Rothstein Kass' advisory practice and services.
Tedeschi founded HC in San Francisco in 2002 and brings over thirty years of diverse operating experience to his new position at Rothstein Kass. Prior to establishing HC, Tedeschi was COO of Genesis Merchant Group. Before relocating to San Francisco in 1993, he held several senior positions at Morgan Stanley. His career commenced in 1979 with Goldman Sachs. He is a recognized leader and spokesman for the alternative sector.
Versella joined HC in 2005 and expanded the firm's regional presence by opening an office in New Jersey. He has thirty years of related experience encompassing senior positions at Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, and Tiger Management. Versella began his career at Goldman Sachs.
Smith Elliott Kearns & Company (SEK&Co) announced it will be represented in 2012 onPKF North America (PKF NA) national committees. PKF NA is a membership association comprised of ninety-nine independent accounting and consulting firms in North America that share resources, such as education, client service, best practices, marketing, and various ranges of expertise.
Kimberly J. Wines, SPHR, firm administrator/human resources director, was appointed to the Humans Resources Committee. Wines specializes in providing human resource consulting for the firm and its clients throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. As a recognized professional in the field of human resources, Wines has earned the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
