Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), an accounting and business consulting firm in the Southeast, has added John H. Shipp, CPA, in its Chattanooga office. Shipp has joined the accounting firm in a senior position in the accounting and assurance services department. He brings a broad range of leadership skills and experiences, including having served as an artillery sergeant in the US Marine Corps. Shipp is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

LBMC has added Lawrence Dillon, CPA, in its Knoxville office. Dillon has joined the firm as a staff member in the accounting and assurance department. Prior to joining LBMC, she was in a staff position with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Atlanta. Dillon is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a bachelor's degree and master's degree in accounting. 


LBMC Employment Partners, LLC, a member of the LBMC Family of Companies, has added Linda W. Ellis in its Brentwood (Nashville) office. Ellis has joined LBMC Employment Partners in a payroll administration assistant position in the Nashville office. She previously worked as an administrative assistant at Shield Lai & Co Pa in Fort Myers, Florida. 


LBA Group is pleased to announce the expansion of the firm's Forensic, Litigation & Valuation (FLV) Services group to better reflect all the services LBA can provide in this area. Scott Lanigan, CPA, CFE, Cr.FA, CFC, DABFA, will serve as the partner in charge of LBA's FLV team, which includes Richard Brock, CPA; Billy Morrow, CPA; Ed Grenadier, CPA; John Reynolds, CPA; Curt Castetter, CPA; Scott Steadman, ASA, CFC; and Jason Lafser, CPA, CFE.

For the sixth time in seven years, PAi of De Pere, Wisconsin, has been honored with a US Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Small Business Award. The chamber gave the award to a select group of seventy-five companies across the United States that have played a critical role in creating jobs and growing the economy.

"These award winners embody the spirit of American free enterprise", said Thomas J. Donohue, US Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. "Today the chamber celebrates the positive impact made by PAi and is proud to recognize the company for its outstanding achievements."

The Blue Ribbon Small Business Award is designed to recognize businesses that demonstrate excellent practices in several areas, including business strategy, employee development, community involvement, and customer service. PAi was the only 2012 recipient from the state of Wisconsin. 

"The recipients of this year's Blue Ribbon Award excelled in business amid great uncertainty and thrived despite difficult economic times", said Donohue. "More important than profits, their successes have provided much-needed jobs and hope to the people in their communities."

This year's winners were selected from a record number of nationwide applicants and will be honored at America's Small Business Summit May 21-23 in Washington, DC. On March 15, seven of the Blue Ribbon businesses were announced as award finalists, and one will be named the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year during the summit. The winner will be presented with a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the US Chamber of Commerce.


The Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy recently advised Amy H. Brousse and Patrick R. Mulherin of Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC (SEK&Co) that they successfully completed the requirements to become licensed CPAs.

Brousse graduated summa cum laude from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor's degree in accounting. After working at KPMG in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, she joined the audit department of the Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, office in October 2010. She provides audit and attestation services to financial institution, local government, and nonprofit clients.

Mulherin graduated cum laude from Shippensburg University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. After serving two tax season internships with SEK&Co and upon graduation, he joined the tax department of the Chambersburg office. He provides accounting, tax, and consulting services to the firm's individual and small business clients. His specialty area is serving closely held family businesses.
