Volunteer Spirit Alive & Well at Deloitte Consulting

'Hands-on San Francisco' was helped on Sept. 22 by the goodwill of 200 employees from the Bay office of Deloitte Consulting.

Part of the firm's 2000 Community Service day, employees helped all over the city with charities and social services endeavors. Some painted a recreation room at a senior center, while others sorted through donations at a food bank and even helped teachers at a local child development center.

'Deloitte Consulting is committed to enabling self-sufficiency in the communities where our employees live and work, rather than simply applying temporary solutions to many of the problems these communities face,' says Erik Gilberg, managing director. 'Not only do these projects benefit the community, but philanthropic efforts such as the 2000 Community Service Day also serve to boost employee morale and foster a strong sense of unity within the firm.'

The firm also demonstrates its community spirit during the rest of the year, too. A Web site that will detail service opportunities will soon be available to staff.
