Workshop Topic: Wealth Care Success: Key Issues for Multi-Partner CPA Firms to Consider

Tony Cord is an insightful thought leader who is helping to shape the future of the accounting profession. He is one of the handful of visionaries with experience in both the accounting profession and the financial services industry. As a result, he has a deep appreciation and understanding of CPA firm culture, economics, client-focus and historic opportunities arising now as the two intersect. He currently leads 1st Global’s national partnership development programs, with emphasis on helping large CPA practices build and manage robust new profit centers around wealth care services.

Prior to joining 1st Global, Mr. Cord led CPA firm acquisitions in the east as VP Mergers & Acquisition at American Express Tax & Business Services. Tony is a business development, acquisitions and management executive with entrepreneurial spirit who has helped build and manage businesses for 20 years. He has valuable cross-functional experience, having worked at senior general management levels, having created his own entrepreneurial start-ups, and having led creative strategic alliances, marketing, sales and profit enhancement initiatives at Fortune 500, middle-market and small professional services firms.

Mr. Cord holds an MBA finance degree from Southern Illinois University and performed his undergraduate studies in economics and business at Davidson College and the University of Maryland. Tony was an honors graduate and All-American athlete at DeMatha High School in suburban Washington DC. He has held NASD Series 7, 63 securities and life and health insurance licenses.

In 1990 he was an Ernst & Young/Inc. Magazine “Entrepreneur of the Year” nominee. He is quoted in national publications and was featured from 1987-1991 in the Bell Atlantic/US Small Business Administration sponsored SUCCESS Small Business Video Library Series and was a featured speaker on Business Planning and Cash Flow Planning at SUCCESS Symposia held throughout the mid-Atlantic states. Tony is the author of The Advisory Board Guide for Small Businesses, has had his articles featured in various industry publications and has appeared on numerous business radio and television programs.

He brings a high-energy, relationship-driven and disciplined business approach to championing the development of financial services inside CPA firms. Tony and his wife and their four kids currently reside in suburban Montgomery County, Maryland.
