Take a Test Drive of New Web Audit Software
Last June we reported the formation of an agreement between Deloitte & Touche and Intacct Corporation to produce a web-based accounting service that would be offered to accounting firms.
The service, which combines the accounting knowledge of Deloitte & Touche and the software engineering skills of Intacct Corporation, is now live, and it will allow accounting professionals who work with small- and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to use sophisticated auditing techniques on the web. The service is to be available on a subscription basis.
The new service will enable clients and their accountants to share information and perform audit programs completely over the Internet, at any time and from any location. It is expected that this service will result in less time spent by accountants on audits and lower fees for clients. At the same time, the program provides advanced auditing methodology techniques which should improve the level of service provided by auditors.
"Small- and medium-sized enterprises are looking to the Internet for powerful, convenient, and low-cost services to manage finances and identify areas of strength and weakness," said David Thomas, CEO of Intacct Corporation. "The auditing tool gives CPAs a means to deliver these benefits to their clients. CPAs can use Intacct to help them streamline services and enhance low-value activities."
Accountants who are interested in this new service may use it on a trial basis by registering for a "test drive" at the Intacct web site.
Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
