Pikachu Virus Begins to Grow
Nicknamed the 'Pokey' virus, Trend Micro has confirmed that the virus named after the popular Pokemon character is spreading slowly in the United States.
The virus has the ability to do similar damage as last spring's Love Bug ILOVEYOU virus.
When a user opens an email attachment, an email is sent to everyone in the user's contact address book. When users open an attachment, an image of a pensive Pikachu appears on the screen with the nonsense message: 'Between millions of people around the world I found you. Don’t forget to remember this day every time MY FRIEND.'
The title of the email is 'Pikachu Pokemon,' with the message, 'Pikachu is your friend.' Obviously, users are advised not to open the attachment and delete the file from the hard drive.
Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
