Palm Strikes Gold in new Offerings

A technology-hungry world just can't escape the market domination enjoyed by Palm and their Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). An announcement made at COMDEX in Las Vegas confirms this fact, and more ... Palm is about to debut its new Portal service designed to complement, and sit on, anyone's Palm Pilot.

The new service is called 'MyPalm,' and is designed as a typical portal - at least what most of us think of as a portal - because it will have news, guidance, links and other services that help promote or make a product work smarter.

MyPalm also is intended to bring more revenue to Palm by selling accessories, partner programs and other items to its vast user base.

A related announcement also made attendees sit up and take notice. Palm said it would begin shipping a Mobile Internet Kit that will make any Palm device (not just the Palm VII) wireless through the use of a cell phone. Although the Palm VII does not require a cell phone to operate, it was not determined whether an additional fee like the one charged to access the 'Net on the Palm VII, would also be charged with the Mobile Internet Kit.
