Race to the White House: Cheney Hospitalized for Chest Pains

The news broke this morning that Vice Presidential candidate Dick Cheney complained of chest pains and was rushed to George Washington University Hospital. After several tests, however, his physicians assured him and the rest of the world that he did not suffer a heart attack.

Governor George W. Bush knew of Cheney's history of heart problems when he selected him as his running mate. This included three heart attacks and a quadruple cardiac bypass surgery - all before Cheney had turned 50 years old.

A cardiologist at the hospital commented during the campaign that Cheney's health was stable.
