Proactive Stance for New Technologies

How far will technology take us now that we've begun the new century? Our grandparents couldn't have dreamed that electronic everything would be a buzzword for the last 25 years, let alone the term, "E-everything!"

So what do new technologies have in store for us? The concept that technology will "liberate" us is at the forefront of any discussion like this; simply put, technology will make our lives simpler and enable us to model our work and personal habits around technology rather than be reactive to it.

Here are a few concepts for consideration:

  • technology will allow us to work anywhere, anytime, anyplace; say goodbye to the 9-5 workday and hello to the 24/7 environnment;
  • the more skills you have as an employee, the more desirable you will be - employers will seek highly specialized personnel to complete complicated tasks, and employees will be motivated by more than just money;
  • the white male will be a icon of the past as diversity is the norm within every business or venture; and
  • team players will once again come into fashion as more employees are asked to work on projects as a group rather than individually.
