NY Society Adds Six New Chapters
Effective June 1, 2001, the New York State Society of CPAs will add six chapters to the organization, bringing the total number of chapters to 11.
Forming the new chapters resulted from a recommendation provided by the Society's Task Force on Chapters. New chapters will be located in New York City itself, in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, as well as across the state in Rockland County, Elmira-Ithaca, and in an area north of Glenn Falls (presently served by the Albany chapter).
As in the case of the Albany chapter serving Glenn Falls, these new chapter areas had been previously served by other chapters.
The Society has provided a Full Report of the recommendations from the Task Force, including the reasoning behind the new chapters.
Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
