International Accounting School to Open

Chuo University in Japan has announced it will open a graduate school devoted to producing international accounting and financial affairs specialists. The school is slated to open in 2002.

Certified Public Accountants and other accounting professionals will be admitted to the school, which hopes to produce students with a deep knowledge of international accounting standards.

Japan hopes the graduate school will enable Japanese companies to hire local talent. Currently, many accounting experts must be hired from the United States and Europe.

The university will accept 100 students per year, and will accept applications twice a year and offer night classes to accommodate schedule fluctuations of students who are also working.
