Intacct CEO Appointed to SIIA Software Division Board
Intacct Corporation, the leading provider of online professional accounting solutions, today announced that CEO David C. Thomas has been appointed to the Software Division Board of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). The SIIA is the principal trade association for the software and digital content industry.
As a member of the Software Division Board, Thomas will collaborate with software and Internet executives representing companies that range from industry-leading corporations to smaller visionary enterprises in order to share ideas, discuss business models, analyze trends, and address common challenges of the industry. The Division's programs support member business development through networking, partnerships, industry exposure and strategic insight on the issues and trends of the industry.
"As SIIA looks to further develop the software as a service space and to address the impact of web-based technologies, we welcome the experience that Mr. Thomas brings to the organization," said Fred Hoch, vice president of Software Programs, SIIA. "As founder of a company that has transformed the practice of accounting by delivering professional accounting software as a service over the Internet, we are fortunate to have David and the benefit of his perspective."
Thomas, the founder and CEO of Intacct, has more than two decades' experience in developing visionary, market-leading computer software and business solutions. He began his career in the late 1970s, writing time-sharing accounting software for mainframe computers. Later, he became one of the desktop software industry's pioneers when he architected and hand-coded the first accounting software program for the personal computer. That undertaking grew into a company called Cyma, which subsequently became a leader in the accounting software sector for much of its 20-year history, and which was acquired by McGraw-Hill in the mid-1980s.
The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is the principal trade association for the software and digital content industry. SIIA provides global services in government relations, business development, corporate education and intellectual property protection to more than 800 leading software and information companies. Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
