Hindu Memorial Day Observed August 14

Hindus worldwide will observe Memorial Day on August 14 at 7 p.m. Indian Standard Time (2:30 p.m. GMT). The yearly observance activities are conducted to remember all those lives that were lost to defend Hindu Dharma and to recall the victims of terrorism, such as those recently in Mumbai.

According to Questia, in Hinduism, dharma is the religious and moral rights and duties of each individual; it generally refers to religious duty, but may also mean social order, right conduct or simply virtue. Sacred law is the codification of dharma and Hinduism itself is also called Sanatana Dharma (the enternal dharma).

Hinduism is recognized as one of the world's major religous traditions. Unlike other religions, Hinduism is not a fixed set doctrines set down by a single individual, prophet or seer. Instead, Hinduism is a diverse group of traditions and sects which share a set of enternal laws of nature or Sanatana Dharma, according to balagokullam.

Hindus in Houston, Texas, will hold a memorial assembly in honor of those lost lives and also for the people who died in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The address is 5645 Hillcroft, Suite 701, and the telephone number is 713-278-9099.
