Hdvest.com Gobbles Up E-Filers
The word is out. More than 300,000 Americans have logged on to Hdvest.com to Web prepare and e-file their tax returns absolutely free of charge. H.D. Vest, Inc., the country’s largest provider of financial services through tax professionals, believes part of the site’s success comes from the e-filing trend.
According to the Irving, Texas based company, Americans have swiftly adopted the practice of Web-preparing and e-filing their income tax returns. The IRS backs that statement citing that nearly half of all income tax returns received to date have been electronic - and that the number of returns filed by personal computers is up 95 percent from last year.
The site’s popularity could also come from its reliability and ease of navigation. Customers of the site say it is very user-friendly. The company is committed to keeping the site secure and private as well. Currently, the site has earned the Better Business Bureau BBBOnline Privacy Seal, the CPA WebTrust Seal, and the TRUSTe Privacy seal.
But that’s not all that is free. Customers also receive a 1040 Analyst Report ™. The report provides an individual analysis of the customer’s tax return and offers suggestions for financial planning, as well as tips on reducing next year’s tax bill. Of course, the report also provides instructions for locating a nearby H.D. Vest Online Affiliate. So far, 15,000 customers have used the program to locate an advisor.
Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
