Two Baltimore accounting firms announce merger

Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn, P.A., (GSG) of Owings Mills and Hagerstown, Maryland, and Baltimore’s Bernard B. Cohen & Company LLC (BBC) have merged combining forces to provide a comprehensive menu of accounting, financial, and consulting services for businesses and individuals throughout Maryland. The combined firm brings total GSG employees to over 85 and will operate under the name of Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn, P.A. functioning from the GSG headquarters, located in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Joining GSG as an officer, Merton E. Cohen, CPA, has more than 35 years experience in the areas of general accounting and tax. Additionally, Neil Z. Insel, ESQ., CPA will be joining GSG’s tax department as a senior manager. BBC’s specialties include: real estate, property management, estate, trusts and gift planning.

GSG’s 70-plus years of substantial growth combined with BBC’s 60-year history will position the unified firm to offer a complete array of accounting services for closely held businesses and individuals including financial reporting, audit, review and tax services as well as business advisory services. The firm has niche expertise serving the manufacturing, wholesale-distribution, construction, not-for-profit, employee benefit plans, hospitality, and real estate industries, and specializes in business valuation and litigation support, fraud detection and prevention, business consulting, technology, and emerging business. GSG will continue its membership in PKF North America, the worldwide organization of accounting firms with direct access to 80 member firms in North America and over 160 affiliated firms networked throughout the world.
