Palmeri becomes CSCPA president

The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) has installed John J. Palmeri, CPA, LL.M of Cheshire to serve as President for the organization’s 2007-2008 activity year. His installation took place at the CSCPA Annual Meeting held recently at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

Palmeri is member/manager of John J. Palmeri, Attorney at Law, LLC in Cheshire, and is Special Tax Counsel to the law offices of Secor, Cassidy & McPartland, P.C. with offices in Waterbury, Southbury, and Watertown.

Mr. Palmeri has served CSCPA as Secretary, Treasurer, and President-elect, and as a member of the Board of Governors. He has also chaired its committees on Audit, Bylaws, Trust, Estate & Gift Taxation, Federal Taxation, and Federal Taxation Division Steering, and served as a member of or board liaison to the committees on Investment, Continuing Professional Education, Executive Education Review, Legal Relations & Services, Management of an Accounting Practice, Meritorious Service, Not-for-Profit Organizations, Personal Financial Planning, Public Relations, Real Estate & Construction, State Taxation, and Governmental Affairs. He was named CSCPA “Committee Chair of the Year” in 2000.

In addition to his activities with CSCPA, Palmeri is a past president of both the Cheshire Exchange Club and the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association Tax Section Executive Committee. He also serves as an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 51 in Cheshire.

Palmeri holds a B.S. from Brooklyn College, a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and an LL.M. from the Quinnipiac University Graduate School of Law.
