New partners announced at Beers + Cutler

Washington, CD-based accounting and consulting firm Beers + Cutler is pleased to announce that Bill Apple and Brigitta Scott have been named partners of the firm.

Apple is a member of the commercial business group and has more than 25 years of experience advising clients in their business and personal income tax matters and financial planning. He has substantial expertise in federal, state and local tax planning and compliance. He also has extensive experience assisting clients in mergers and acquisitions, sales of businesses, shareholder/partner issues, entity formation and other business transactions.

Prior to joining Beers + Cutler, Apple was the partner-in-charge of tax of the Columbus, Ohio, branch of a regional accounting firm. He was also previously a partner in a North Carolina law firm where he practiced for more than five years.

Apple holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics from Rollins College and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Scott is a member of the Beers + Cutler consulting group and has nearly 20 years of experience advising government contractors in virtually all areas of contracting compliance, proposal preparation, negotiations, and audit support. Her expertise includes compliance assessments, policy and procedure review and development, indirect rate calculations and forward pricing rate proposals, DCAA support, Incurred Cost Submissions preparation, cost allowability assessments, and Disclosure Statement preparation.

Prior to joining Beers + Cutler, Scott served as Vice President of Finance for a start-up biotech company. During her tenure as head of the finance department, she successfully transitioned the company through an IPO and subsequent acquisition. Scott also spent 10 years with a public accounting firm performing various attest and consulting functions for government contract clients.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from James Madison University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is active in a number of business and community organizations.
