Mississippi accounting firms announce merger

Natchez, MI-based Switzer, Hopkins and Mange has announced it is morging with Silas Simmons LLP, also a Natchez-based accounting firm. Going forward, the combined firms will do business as Silas Simmons LLP and will operate out of the existing Silas Simmons offices.

Silas Simmons partner Sim Mosby said.

"Their role will be the same as their current role, our role will be the same as our current role, but it will all be under the auspices of Silas Simmons," Silas Simmons partner Sim Mosby was quoted as saying in the Natchez Democrat. "You had to lose one name and ours has been around a lot longer."

The combined firm will have a total of 40 employees.

"This has become a pretty capital-intensive industry, with the technology," Silas Simmons Partner Chuck Caldwell said in the Natchez Democrat. "It's something that the larger you are, the more you can invest in technology and better serve your clients."

The firm's client base is focused within a 60-mile radius of the Natchez office. "We pretty much represent somebody in every industry in town," Mosby said.
