McGladrey donates $10K to Red Cross for flood relief

RSM McGladrey, a leading accounting, tax and business consulting firm founded in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is contributing $10,000 to the American Red Cross for flood relief in some of the Midwest communities hardest hit by the recent flash floods. The firm's donation will help provide much needed support to those affected throughout the Midwest and particularly in Iowa, where McGladrey serves as the largest accounting firm statewide with approximately 800 employees.

In addition to the $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross, RSM McGladrey also has established its own Iowa Flood Relief Fund, where the firm's nearly 8,000 employees may donate money to directly assist affected McGladrey employees in the Central Plains.

"Our hearts go out to everyone affected by these devastating conditions in a part of the country that is very dear to the McGladrey family," RSM McGladrey President Steve Tait said. "These communities have been the backbone of McGladrey for decades, and we are doing everything we can to provide support for the large number of clients and employees we serve in Iowa and throughout the Midwest."

RSM McGladrey’s contribution will go toward rebuilding efforts and will help the American Red Cross provide food, water and other life-sustaining products to those affected by the record floods. Thousands of residents in Iowa were evacuated as nine rivers reached record levels, and more than 100 city blocks were under water in Cedar Rapids, the birthplace of the McGladrey firm.

RSM McGladrey founder Ira McGladrey opened the firm's first accounting office in Cedar Rapids in 1926. Today, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry ranks McGladrey as the state's largest accounting firm, with nine offices statewide in such affected areas as Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Dubuque, Burlington, and Iowa City. Nationally, RSM McGladrey is the fifth-largest tax, accounting and business consulting services firm, when considered with McGladrey & Pullen, a partner-owned CPA firm that delivers audit and attest services.
