Marcum & Kliegman LLP wins awards for creative marketing initiatives
Marcum & Kliegman LLP, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, won two MarCom awards for its recruiting video entitled The Place to Be and the M&K Business Heroes advertising campaign. The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. "Accounting is a rational business, but the marketing of it is not always. Effective marketing often hinges on the marketer's ability to tap into the minds and hearts of potential clients," states Saskia Monteiro Thomson, Marcum & Kliegman's director of marketing and creator of the winning video and advertising campaign. "In all we do, we strive to reach our target audiences in compelling ways."
In an effort to enhance recruiting, the Firm sought to reach out to young candidates in a medium they are comfortable with. Marcum & Kliegman developed the theme, concept, and story boards for a recruiting video. The Firm then worked with a professional production company to develop a series of videos that speak to its entrepreneurial Culture. Young professionals and a new graduate on their various paths to success are highlighted in the two-minute clip. You can view the video.
The winning advertising campaign, M&K Business Heroes, showcases Marcum & Kliegman professionals as superheroes to the firm's clients. All of the ads feature bold, bright cartoon figures performing heroic acts with the tagline "In the real world we are CPAs. To our clients we are Superheroes." You can view the advertising campaign.

Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
