KPMG partner makes Top 25 Consultants list

Mark A. Goodburn, KPMG LLP's Vice Chairman and Head of Advisory, has been named to Consulting magazine's list of the Top 25 Consultants for 2008, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm has announced.

The magazine cited Goodburn's vision in defining a new strategy for the Advisory practice after assuming its leadership. "This dramatic strategic shift is the central piece to Goodburn's vision of KPMG's advisory practice, which he took over in 2004," the magazine noted. "In the wake of corporate scandals and increasing market and regulatory complexity, Goodburn set out a strategy designed to carve out a new space in advisory services that integrated strategy, financial consulting and risk management on a global scale."

"I am honored both to be named to such a distinguished list," Goodburn said, "and to work in a profession that plays a significant role in shaping the face of business in the midst of increased global complexity. I have the privilege to work with extremely talented colleagues at KPMG who constantly inspire me to support the highest professional standards and level of service to our clients. Their capabilities and commitment have enabled KPMG to become a leader in addressing the growth, governance and performance challenges of our clients."

Goodburn joined KPMG in 1984, was elected to the partnership in 1994, and later was managing partner of KPMG's Silicon Valley, CA, office, and global vhair of the firm's Information, Communications and Entertainment practice. He is a member of KPMG LLP's U.S. Management Committee, KPMG International's Global Advisory Strategy Committee, and currently serves many of the firm's Fortune 1000 clients. Other leadership and governance roles have included service on the KPMG's U.S. and Americas board of directors

Goodburn is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science degree in business administration from Minnesota State University.
