Firms merge to form three-state accounting firm
Rodefer Moss & Co, PLLC is merging with the Indiana and Kentucky accounting firm of Melhiser Endres Tucker, CPAs, P.C., creating a company with seven offices in three states.
The merged firm will operate under the Rodefer Moss name. The transition into a single company is effective September 1, 2008.
Rodefer Moss has Tennessee offices in Knoxville, Nashville, Greeneville, and Kingsport.
Melhiser Endres Tucker has two Indiana locations, in New Albany and Corydon, and an office in Louisville, Kentucky.
"This new era in our company's history is exactly the right thing at exactly the right time," said Jimmy Rodefer, who will serve as the firm's Chief Executive Officer. "Combining these firms gives our clients an even broader range of experience and talent. In our conversations with Melhiser Endres Tucker, we quickly saw the similarities in our cultures and our approach to client service. We both share the same dedication to client service, a desire to always improve, and a commitment to hard work."
Doug York, president of Melhiser Endres Tucker since 2004, will become president of Rodefer Moss.
"Our firm had reached the stage where there were two ways we could grow," York said. "We could acquire a smaller accounting firm or joing with a prominent large firm through which we could combine assets and expand services. With Rodefer Moss, we found the perfect fit. We are excited to unite our firms' unique abilities to our clients."
Rodefer will maintain his office in Knoxville; York's office will remain in New Albany.
"All offices will continue their normal operations," Rodefer said. "Clients will continue to be served by the people they know and in whom they have confidence."
Rodefer and York began discussions about combining the two firms more than a year ago after meeting each other and working together through their affiliations with the BDO Seidman Alliance, a national association of privately owned, independent accounting firms that share resources, ideas and strategies.
BDO Seidman Alliance members can call upon other member firms for assistance on projects and engagements.
"We took the idea of bringing our two firms together to our respective partners, spent several months working out the details, and we're delighted to be one company," said York.
Other company officers are:
- Rick Swafford, Executive Director of Audit
- David Nelson, Executive Director of Tax
- Lee Gowan, Chief Financial Officer
Remaining partners of Rodefer Moss and the former Melhiser Endres Tucker will continue to be shareholders in the new organization.
