Deloitte Teams with AngelPoints to Reward Volunteerism

The United Nations General Assembly has announced that 2001 will be the International Year of Volunteers. With objectives of increased recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion of volunteerism, the U.N. will document and recognize volunteer activities around the world.

Deloitte & Touche has joined the effort by announcing a collaboration with AngelPoints - an organization that encourages appreciation of volunteer efforts by tracking volunteer service and rewarding volunteer activities.

For each hour of volunteer activity, Deloitte employees will receive AngelPoints, which can be traded for tuition stipends, airline miles, and other goods and services. AngelPoints may also be donated to any person or nonprofit organization.

"Community involvement and volunteerism is at the heart of Deloitte & Touche's culture, so it was natural for us to get involved in a program like AngelPoints," according to Jack Russi, D&T partner leading the program.

AngelPoints has launched a charter program in the San Francisco Bay area, and will be available nationwide in 2001. Information will be available at the AngelPoints web site.
