Credit Abuse Resistance Education Program

The effects of new bankruptcy law have received considerable attention lately. Just as important, however, is educating people, especially young people, how to avoid bankruptcy. The Credit Abuse Resistance Education or C.A.R.E. Program is a national program founded by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, WDNY and the Bankruptcy Committee of the Monroe County Bar Association.

“Judge John Ninfo’s C.A.R.E. Program hits the nail on the head! Instead of waiting until the financial damage has been done – he attacks the cause of credit card abuse. He focuses on today’s young people and through the use of testimonials and a college student produced film, he effectively delivers his message of avoiding unnecessary (Needs v. Wants) credit card debt and its damaging consequences,” John J. Hargrove, Chief Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of California says in a testimonial on the C.A.R.E. Program web site. Judge John Ninfo II is the founder of the C.A.R.E. Program.

The Program’s web site at www.careprogram.us offers information on

  • Scheduling a C.A.R.E. presentation in your area
  • Starting a C.A.R.E Program
  • Free presentation materials
  • Programs around the nation and
  • New initiatives and locations

Visitors will also find links to articles about credit and credit information, including back issues of Next Step Magazine and the Credit Card Chronicles. Films about C.A.R.E can be viewed online or downloaded from the site as well.

“It’s reaching high school students – a group that would be difficult to reach in another way – with a really strong message about credit card usage before they get into trouble,” Carole Bozworth, Ph.D. the University of Missouri’s Extension Service Regional Specialist for Consumer and Family Economics told the Daily Record of Kansas City and Independence, Missouri after the C.A.R.E. program was introduced in the region.
