Company announcements: Week of November 22

Following is the latest roundup of firm news for the week of November 22, 2010.

Abeles and Hoffman, P.C., recently announced that Elizabeth Schelp, CPA, has been promoted to senior auditor. Schelp joined Abeles and Hoffman in 2009. Schelp primarily works with health care providers, nonprofit organizations, manufacturing companies, and professional services businesses.

BDO USA, LLP, last week kicked-off the firm's Centennial Partners Meeting. Attending the Centennial, taking place in Orlando, Florida, were more than 700 people representing BDO USA partners and significant others, specially invited retired partners, and international guests from the independent member firms of the global BDO network. The conference concluded a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the firm's founding as Seidman & Seidman in New York City in 1910.

CBIZ Tofias recently announced that Cathy Foley has joined the company as a tax director and George Coulter has joined as the business development manager. Coulter and Foley work out of the Cambridge, MA, office.

Carrie Beasley Jones, CFP, wealth manager and chief operating & compliance officer at LBA Wealth Management in Jacksonville, FL, has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to use the certification marks CFP, Certified Financial Planner, in accordance with CFP Board certification and renewal requirements.

LBMC Employment Partners, LLC, a member of the LBMC (Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC) Family of Companies, has added Deitra McComas in its Knoxville, Tennessee office as an HR assistant. McComas will provide assistance to clients as well as internal support in the area of human resource consulting.

Lewis & Knopf CPAs, PC, recently announced the addition of two new team members, Brett S. Kidd and Jonathan E. Jury. In Kidd's new role as staff accountant, he provides business and individual tax returns. In addition, he will assist in school and auto dealership audits. As a senior accountant, Jury provides comprehensive tax, consulting, and preparation services for the firm's clients. He also offers audit and monthly accounting services.

Lewis, Hooper & Dick, LLC, recently announced the promotions of Shannon Euliss, CPA, and Kristin Sekavec, CPA. Euliss, formerly a senior accountant, joined the firm in 2004. In her new role as supervisor, she specializes in commercial audits and tax preparation services for the firm's clients. Sekavec joined Lewis, Hooper & Dick in 2004. Previously a senior accountant, she now serves as a supervisor providing audit, accounting and tax preparation services for the firm's clients.

The Young CPAs, a segment of the membership of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), collected more than 60 bags of food to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The NJSCPA wishes to thank the staffs at the following accounting firms for their assistance with the food drive:
