Clifton Gunderson recently announced that Stan Babicz, CPA, has joined its Milwaukee office as a tax partner. Babicz has more than twenty-five years of public accounting experience. He specializes in tax services for corporations, partnerships, and high net worth individuals, with an emphasis on businesses in the manufacturing, wholesale distribution, construction, and real estate industries. Babicz also has extensive experience with the implementation of research tax credit studies and is a resource for complex research and development technical issues and federal and state tax controversies. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Augustana College and a master’s in taxation from DePaul University. Babicz is a member of the AICPA, the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Illinois CPA Society.
Clifton Gunderson has announced that David Phoebus joined its Indianapolis office as Regional Director of Business Development. In this role, he is responsible for business development and consulting services in Indiana. Phoebus brings to the firm twenty years of finance, consulting, and business development experience. Prior to joining Clifton Gunderson, he worked as a director for Resources Global Professionals where he was responsible for client relations and business development. Phoebus received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and his master’s degree from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
The CPA and advisory firm of DeLeon & Stang is pleased to announce Nafatouma Haidara obtained her license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Haidara became a DeLeon & Stang team member in 2009 and is currently the staff accountant in the tax department. In her role, she works with corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships preparing financial statements, income tax returns, quarterly payroll tax returns, sales tax returns, personal property tax returns, and personal tax returns. In 1998, Haidara graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Paris in La Sorbonne, France. She is a member of the AICPA and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).
LBMC Managed Security Services, LLC has added Robert Maldonado in its Brentwood (Nashville) office team as an IT engineer. He is currently enrolled at ITT Technical Institute working on a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Security. In his new role, Maldonado will work with companies on their specific systems security outsourcing needs, including Managed Intrusion Prevention, Managed Intrusion Detection, Managed Firewall, and Managed Vulnerability Scanning.
The accounting and consulting firm of Louis T. Roth & Co. announced that Emily M. Massoth has obtained her Kentucky Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Massoth joined Louis T. Roth & Co. in 2009. As a staff accountant, she is responsible for preparing business and individual tax returns, preparing financial statements, and performing tax research. In addition, Massoth serves on an internal committee to advance social and wellness initiatives within Louis T. Roth & Co. She received her BA in accounting in 2009 from Transylvania University. Massoth is a member of the AICPA and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants (KyCPA).
The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) installed Richard E. Piluso, CPA, of New Providence, New Jersey, as President at its 114th Annual Election Meeting and Dinner held May 19. A member of the NYSSCPA since 1968, Piluso has served in many capacities within the organization. He received the Outstanding CPA in Industry Award in 1998. During his professional career, he has chaired many NYSSCPA committees, including the Quality Enhancement Policy Committee and the Industry Outreach Task Force. Piluso has served as a member of the AICPA’s Governing Council and Board of Directors as well as the chairman of the Finance Committee. He received the AICPA’s Gold Medal for Distinguished Service, its highest honor.
On May 18, 2011, ParenteBeard LLC announced the launch of its Sustainability Practice. The new practice is led by Cynthia (Cindy) Wollman. Wollman joined ParenteBeard from CRW Graphics where she served as Vice President of New Business Development. In that role, Wollman was instrumental in aligning the organization’s sustainability efforts with its strategies. The Sustainability Practice will work with clients to establish sustainability initiatives, which will include creating an organization’s strategy, assuring the credibility and transparency of sustainability measures already in place, and teaming with clients to create sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility reports.
The CPA firm of Stark Schenkein, LLPannounced the addition of Manda K. Dinkel, CPA, to its team of professionals. She joins the firm as audit manager. Prior to joining Stark Schenkein, LLP, Dinkel was Senior Accountant II at the Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora where she resolved budgets, managed investments, and prepared disclosures for audited financial statements. She also served as Assurance Manager at Ehrhardt, Keefe, Steiner & Hottman in Denver where she managed various audits, researched accounting issues, and documented conclusions. Dinkel is a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado. She earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from Grand Canyon University.
Swart, Lalande & Associates, P.C. has announced that Frederick L. White, CPA, has been elected to the board of directors of the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) Educational Foundation. White has been a Swart, Lalande & Associates team member since 1982. As a shareholder in the firm’s Construction Industry Services Division, he provides audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements for construction contractors and real estate entities. White also has experience serving clients in the charter airline and music industries. He graduated with a BS in business administration from George Mason University in 1978.
Weaver announced the promotion of James R. Flatt, CPA, to Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s Tax and Strategic Business Services effective June 1, 2011. Flatt, who joined Weaver with the expansion into the Midland/Odessa market and the merger with Elms Faris, brings a long history of leadership experience to his position. He has more than nineteen years of public and private accounting experience, with a concentration in consulting and tax compliance for individuals, corporations, and partnerships. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from Abilene Christian University. He is a member of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and the AICPA.
