Following is the latest roundup of firm news for the week of August 23, 2010.
Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A., a Wilmington, DE-based certified public accounting and consulting firm, was recognized as one of the 2010 Top Workplaces by the News Journal and earned the Work/Life Balance Special Award. The Top Workplaces program awards Delaware organizations based solely on the opinions of employees. A total of 90 employers, representing a wide range of industries, participated in the Top Workplaces program.
Citrin Cooperman & Company, LLP, an accounting, tax, and business consulting firm, has added two partners to its accounting, tax, and business consulting practice in Philadelphia. Brian J. "BJ" Hoffman, CPA, CFE, and Michael J. Kline, CPA, MST, formerly shareholders with Shechtman Marks Devor PC, joined Citrin Cooperman as partners on August 17. Citrin Cooperman Partner Kevin Ryan, CPA, has been elected to serve as secretary/treasurer of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Board of Directors. Also, the firm announced it was recently ranked 31st largest accounting firm in the U.S. based on net revenue, up two places from 2009, according to Inside Public Accounting.
Fazio, Mannuzza, Roche, Tankel, LaPilusa, LLC, a Cranford, New Jersey-based certified public accounting and consulting firm, has announced the addition of Christine G. Pronek, CPA, MST, as tax manger of the firm. Pronek is a member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs Board of Trustees, serving a two-year term.
Schneider Downs, a certified public accounting firm with locations in Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio, recently announced following employee promotions to senior manager: Erin M. Abbot, Jennifer R. Cowles, Ann M. Giacobbi, Holly L. Russo, Nicole P. Saldamarco, E. Jack Stewart, and Trevor P. Warren. Also, the following employees have been promoted to manager: Jason M. Droske, Patrick F. Kerns, Jason L. King, Douglas J. Morally, Karlye N. Rowles, Paul D. Scherrah, Jeremy R. Shreve, and Gina M. Walker.
Mark E. Lund, CPA, CCIFP, Houston audit location leader for Weaver, recently was named executive partner for the firm's Houston office. Weaver is an independent certified public accounting firm based in Texas.

Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
